KIM BROWN Obituary

KIM BROWN (KIVILAHTI) 1956 ~ 2025
Kim says to keep smiling - today is a good day. Her cancer journey ended on October 21, 2025.

Wife for 48 years to Joel Brown. Proud mother to Zane (Kerri) and Grammy Bear to Ethan. Sister of Dale (Sonja) Kivilahti, aunt to Todd (Stephanie), Rachel (Jesse), Kyle (Lyne) and Marcus. Great aunt to Cleo, Morgan, Audrey, Clara, Ty and Kohen. Niece to Bentti (Judy) Pyhtila, and sister-in law to Jennifer Brown.

She was predeceased by her loving parents Toini and Leo Kivilahti, Mummu Ida Pyhtila and her in-laws Lorna and Bill Brown.

She lived in Hurkett, Red Rock, Sarnia, Corunna, Thunder Bay and for the last many years, in Dorion. She worked 27.96 years at the Abitibi Mission Mill (Fort William Division) ending her career as the Environmental Technical Supervisor. After the mill's closure, she successfully ran her own environmental consulting business, KJZ Brown Inc., working at various locations including a remote diamond mine, doing environmental audits and related work.

She was lucky to have many caring and supportive friends, colleagues and good family. Kim's happiest and most relaxing places included any time spent on Lake Superior, riding her blue quad, exploring the beautiful Northern Ontario back woods and lakes, and many many road trips with Joel. She enjoyed travel to Moosejaw to help Zane and Kerri, and especially loved her treasured times with grandson Ethan.

A celebration of Kim's life will be held in the R. Leino Memorial Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Monday, October 27, 2025 presided by Pastor Chris Fiorito at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca where condolences may be offered as well.

In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Cancer Clinic, the Nipigon District Hospital or a Charity of Your Choice.

Her final message for everyone is to be strong, it is what it is and she will see you later.

To Kim's family,
I have fond memories of Kim through work at Abitibi-Price/Consolidated. She was always joyful and kind. I knew about her battle through Cathy Levis and was thinking of her at distance. Wish you all the best during this moment of remembrance and celebration of her life. All my sympathies to you.
