LACY DELYEA Obituary

LACY DELYEA
It is with great sadness that the family of Lacy Ellen Delyea announce her passing. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital with family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, January 5, 2024. Lacy was born October 14, 1959, in Fort William, Ontario and spent most of her early life in the Rosslyn area where she grew up with her family and friends. She later moved to her home in Murillo, Ontario where she raised her children and later entertained her grandchildren. Lacy was a dedicated public servant who spent her entire career with Ontario Health where she was a conscientious employee. She was a devoted mother that was extremely proud of her children. Lacy enjoyed travel and spent many of her vacations driving her parents to Southern Ontario to visit relatives. She also made numerous trips to Florida with her sisters which involved a moderate amount of wine drinking. The stories that came back from these adventures kept the family entertained for hours as these trips always had stories attached. Lacy was also the person that you would turn to if you needed the history or current status of someone and was considered the family newsletter as she could tell you where someone had come from, where they had gone and what they were currently up to. Lacy is survived by and will be missed tremendously by her children Kylie Anderson (Barry), Brandon Delyea (Josee Ferrari) and her partner Gerald Sgambelluri. She will also be sadly missed by her 3 grandchildren Daya (who is looking for the number for heaven so she can call her gramma), Brynnlee and Lincoln. Lacy is pre-deceased by father Bill Delyea, brother Billy Delyea, and great nephew Matthew Kempe. Lacy is survived by her mother Ellen Delyea, her loving sisters Sherry Groom (Larry) and Karen Kempe (Ron) as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rosslyn Village Community Centre on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Fund or a Charity of Your Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

Sincere condolences to Lacy's family.
We worked together at Ontario Health. She was patient and kind teaching me the detailed tasks of her job. She was diligent about her work, but always had time to laugh and tell stories about her children.
