LAURA BELLUZ Obituary
LAURA BELLUZ
Laura was a fun loving, adventurous, spiritual individual. She often took car trips on highways and back roads, was an avid concert goer, travelled to other countries, and was most happy exploring nature. She easily connected with others, walked the path as an educator, had a natural way in getting you to question your thinking and believed in life long learning. Laura started tutoring at a early age, which lead to a double degree and teaching in various school boards and English as a Second Language in Ontario and Alberta. She was known for her compassionate teaching style and embracing a challenge. She was also a diligent, well liked yoga, pilates and aerobic instructor in British Columbia and Ontario. Laura had a passion for watching and playing sports. She was a competitive and well rounded baseball player, golfer and learned to ski at an early age. She watched car racing, Olympics and hockey. The phone went on silence and popcorn was made to watch her favourite team the Edmonton Oilers. She enjoyed the strategy and speed of the game and appreciated the elite player skill. She loved nature, as it was here she found peace. Hiking, walking, canoeing, sketching or sitting on a bench with a friend, sharing stories as the sun warmed her soul. She was known to kick off her shoes, to cool her feet in water; grounding herself to the earth beneath her. She saw the beauty in all the seasons, which prompted tales of her early years on a dairy farm in Slate River Valley. She had a talent for finding a bargain, was always well dressed, played guitar in her father's band; however, she mostly treasured her family. She often reached out, always interested in our journey. She will be missed by her family, friends and fur babies and remembered with love, for her easy laugh, quick wit and sense of humour. Laura lead a vibrant, resilient life for 61 years and would want us to pursue our passions, respect nature and to keep learning. She would also hope that we would shout, "Go Oilers Go!" As per her wishes, cremation has taken place in Alberta and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
