LAWRENCE FLETCHER Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence James (Larry) Fletcher announce his unexpected passing on June 28, 2025.

Larry was born on December 27, 1962 in Thunder Bay to Pat and Hugh Fletcher as the second youngest of 5 siblings and spent most of his life in Thunder Bay, where he attended both elementary and high school. Following his education, he worked for Lakehead Freightways and Consolidated Fast Freight. That career path was rather short lived as he realized his love for the aviation industry and airplanes in general. This lead him to a 38 year career in the aviation industry - 36 of those with Thunder Bay Flight Refueling at the Thunder Bay airport followed by 2 exciting years with North Star Air and Wasaya in Pickle Lake. Larry was incredibly proud of his career and enjoyed photographing the planes and scenery to share with friends and family.

Larry's true passion was his family. He had the deepest love for his wife of 36 years, Vicky Kosny, and they shared a special bond that even death cannot break. His most treasured role was that of "Ampa" to his 7 year-old grandson Clint, and was proud to be his number one fan at every hockey game. Larry's love for his daughter, Ellen, knew no boundaries, and he was so very proud of the strong woman that she had become. Larry and Ellen loved travel together, including many trips to see Larry's beloved Montreal Canadiens. He completely loved and joyfully annoyed his three sisters Sandra, Linda, Tannice and their families and truly believed that he was the "cool uncle" to his 7 nieces and nephews, of whom he was so proud.

Larry had a long roster of friends and many of them were part of the camp community at the camp at Sunnyside Beach. Larry loved camp it was his happy place. He had spent the last year working feverously to transform the family camp into a dream home for him and Vicky to enjoy in their retirement, which will now hold special memories forever. His stories and tales will be missed by his Sunnyside friends but especially by his closest friend - Kevin Doyle and his family.

Larry will be reunited in Heaven with his brother Clint Fletcher, his parents Pat and Hugh Fletcher, his parents-in-law Win and Bill Kosny, and by many aunts and uncles. He leaves behind him his wife Victoria (Kosny), his daughter Ellen (Brad), his grandson Clint Beaudry, his sisters Sandra Olsen and her husband Darcy and daughters Jamie, Christine (Eddie) and son Jared (Candace); Linda Bragnalo and her husband Gary and daughters Cory Carruthers (Tyler) and Stacey (Joe); and Tannice Fletcher-Stackhouse and her husband Perry and sons Brody and Devin; and brother-in-law Mitchell Kosny and his wife Antonella Cedia (Toronto).

Larry will be laid to rest at a private family service at a later date. To honour Larry, his family asks that you remember to love your special people unconditionally. Everyone you know will have a last day with you and you never know when that day will be. Always choose to love and be kind and, go Habs go!
