LAWRENCE PUGH Obituary

PUGH
My dad led a really big life. If you can drive it, he raced it; crashed it; then fixed it. Boats, ski-do's, motorcycles and cars. He found himself an amazing woman who would enjoy his crazy and keep him runnin'. My childhood was punctuated with the phrase, "Your father's in the hospital again…"

His big life was destroyed by depression, dementia, Parkinson's and cancer. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Smith, son-in-law David Smith, sisters Carol (Massaro) & Jackie Pugh, and sister-in-law Shirley Lawrence (Mercier) & brother-in-law Dave Lawrence.

Thank you to all the staff at Hogarth who made his days so much better.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.

Larry and I met in Grade 9 at FWCI, worked together at Safeway and became fast friends. He was a remarkable guy with a natural ability to build and repair things. When we were teens Larry built a fast ski boat and we spent many great days skiing at Shebandowan and Oliver. We traveled regularly to the US to car races, and later shared an apartment for a time in Los Angeles, still working together on weekends, pumping gas and fixing cars. He was known to neighbourhood kids in LA, many of them fatherless, as the go-to guy who'd fix your bike for free. At that time he drove the most high powered car then build by Detroit, leading to a number of memorable encounters with police over a few states as we traveled together. Memories of the good times will live on. Condolences to Jennifer, Carol, Jackie and all the family. Safe home, Old Buddy.
