It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Lawrence Earle Renshaw.
Born August 31, 1925 and raised in Neville, Saskatchewan. Lawrence is survived by brother Vernon (Elizbeth); sisters Lois Skalmerude and Noreen Fleming (Stuart); 7 children: Sandra Milne (Tom), Larry (Sharon), Bonnie Bernauer (Norman), Wade (Tina), Doug (Diane), Greg and Pat Winstl (Ronnie). Lawrence was blessed with 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Lawrence was predeceased by his mother and father Eleanor and Pearle Renshaw; sister Ida Jean Renshaw and his wife Alice Renshaw.
Lawrence left Saskatchewan in 1941 and moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William). Lawrence enlisted in the army in 1944 going to England and returning in 1945 when World War II was over.
Lawrence was a member of the Kakabeka Redeemer Church where he was baptized by Pastor Sauer. He later attended Calvary Lutheran Church under Pastor John Schmidt. In 1945 he met his soulmate Alice Robbins and they married in 1947 at Wesley United Church. They spent 62 1/2 years camping, fishing, hunting, traveling and raising their children. Lawrence loved to go on fishing trips with his buddies Bob and Ollie.
Lawrence worked at J.P. Porter Dredging Co. He sailed the Great Lakes: Canada Steamship Lines. He became tired of being away from family so he landed a job at Ogilvie's Flour Mill earning his Millwright papers.
Lawrence and Alice moved to Prince Rupert in 1975 and he worked for Skeena Paper Mills. They returned to Thunder Bay in 1985 and he worked for Abitibi Pulp and Paper Co., retiring in 1991.
Lawrence purchased a home in South Gillies, residing there until 2018 at which time he moved to Glacier Ridge Retirement Home. He loved to tease the girls.
A Memorial Service for Lawrence Renshaw will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. presided by Pastor Brian Falkenholt. Refreshments will be served following the service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Glacier Ridge, Dr. Feldstein and the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital on 4 North.

Sincere condolences to the family. I was lucky enough to be seated with Bob, Ollie and Lawrence at the tool box lunch crew at Provincial Paper's. He was a fine gentleman, always willing to share a story at lunch to keep everyone amused. He had many trade secrets to make the job go that much smoother! RIP my friend.
