LEO BERNARD Obituary

LEO BERNARD
Leo Bernard, known for his quiet kindness, steady nature, and deep love of Northern Ontario, passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2025, at the age of 77, after a long and courageous battle with MS.

A longtime resident of Mud River, Ontario, Leo was deeply connected to the land and community around him. In the 1960s, he served at the military radar base in Armstrong, part of the Pinetree Line, where he operated base vehicles and also worked as a radio disc jockey, a role he remembered with fondness.

Leo spent much of his life working in the northern wilderness, including many dedicated years with Wilderness North, where he was valued for his hard work, reliability, and humble, steady presence.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Leona and Lorraine, along with many friends and community members who will remember him for his gentle spirit and the simple, meaningful way he lived his life.

He will be deeply missed.

Elly and I met Leo at Waweig Lake with Wilderness North. He was a good soul and very interesting to listen to his stories. We are richer for that time with Leo. Fly on our friend, fly on.
