Born September 25, 1940 in Port Arthur, he was raised in the Nipigon area. Here his working career began at the Saw Mill. Leyland worked in various fields before his retirement in 1992.

Leyland made many friends while dirt track racing at Riverview Raceway in Thunder Bay. He never missed a race at Thunder City Speedway until his illness prevented him from going. He is survived by son, Darryl (Shelly); daughter, Debbie; grandchildren, Bobby, Layna (Dan Kuper); step-grandchildren, Laura Logan (Graham Robson), Darrell (Heather) Logan; great-grandson, Maddex Kuper; step-great-granddaughter, Cambree Logan; brother, William Sr.; and good friend, Mark Bevilacqua. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Predeceased by parents, Jack and Nelda (nee: Kay); brothers, Wilbert "Bud", Kenneth, Alfred; sisters, Lenore, Jackie, Melva; son-in-law, Glen Nazvesky; and step-granddaughter, Leanne Logan. Leyland also leaves behind his "Good 'Ole Boy", Boots; who is now with his best bud, Mark.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in Calvary Lutheran Church - 2820 Donald St. E. - with private interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Leylands memory to the Cancer Society of Thunder Bay would be greatly appreciated.

I have many fun memories of uncle Lee. When my brother Gary and I were young we had great fun at the track cheering on the Mr. Steak car he raced. I remember how he could get his dogs so excited when he would get home. They would race around the house like they were on a track while saying in a high voice "git em, go go go! Hilarious. Trips with him, Debbie, Darryl and Marianne were always a hoot. He drove his regular car like he was on the track. Scared the you know what out of us! You will be missed but never forgotten. Sincerely with love, Wendy Lyyski.

Won´t be the same out at camp without seeing Lee always busy doing something! He was a big help on our many projects. Will miss our little chats on the deck with his "good boy" boots. Our Sincere condolences to the family. Pat and Lisa

Our condolences to Lee´s family. Lee was a great friend to all at the campground. Always willing to lend a hand, no matter how big the job was. We will all greatly miss having you out at camp and nights watching hockey and baseball together. The Leafs will finally win this year, Lee. Thanks for being a great friend.
