Linda Gorrie Obituary

MAY 9, 1949 – APRIL 1, 2018

It is with great sorrow that the family of Linda Gorrie announce her passing on April 1, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Linda was born and raised in Port Arthur, Ontario. Throughout her life she worked as a R.N.A in various hospitals and in different provinces, later coming back to live in Thunder Bay.

Linda never lost her sense of humour. She could still make everyone around her feel positive and loved. Her favourite past time was playing cards, doing puzzles, and the occasional night out to Bingo. Her laugh and her thoughtfulness will be greatly missed.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Marjorie and Frank Gorrie.

She is survived by her sisters, Jan Gaudry and Vicky (Dave) Smith; daughter Dee Dee (Orlando); sons Patrick, David and Stewart; many grandchildren, as well as her Aunt “Bunty”, nieces, nephews, cousins and best and loyal friend Darryl.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Foundation.

My deepest sympathies to Linda's family and friends.I know Deryl will sadly miss his best friend. My husbamd and I had the pleasure of having Linda as our neighbor in Thunder Bay, and we couldn't have asked for a better neighbor.
We will miss her funny stories, her laugh, and her generous ways, I loved our card games, and chats, and her help with my knitting. A better person could not be found, and Linda will be an asset to Heaven. R.I.P. dear friend, I am glad you are out of pain. Love, Sylvia.

Dearest Linda. Even though you were my cousin I consider you my friend. Your courage and sense of humour are an inspiration to me. You made me laugh when I was down even though you were facing the darkest times of your life. I will never forget you. love always, Sandra

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
