LINDA KOTYK Obituary

LINDA ANNE KOTYK (MARCONI-MATIS)
Our beautiful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, cousin, and friend was called home on her sister's birthday, Monday, July 15, 2024, in her grandson's arms. She was surrounded by family and love. Linda was born November 21, 1948, to Jennie Matis (Semeniuk) and Stephan Joseph Matis on Fifth Avenue in Port Arthur, ON.

Linda attended Queen Elizabeth school and Hammarskjold High school. She built a career for many years in the insurance field, becoming the first women to obtain her life insurance certification in Ontario. She engaged in Toastmasters for many years, and wasn't afraid to try new adventures, opening and running different businesses. She became everyone's favorite Avon lady, and we all laughed at the monthly "Avon Calling" text messages outlining the latest recommendations, complete with lipstick emojis. She was an entrepreneur - working to obtain her real-estate license at 74 years old.

Linda's life centered around creating moments to bring her family together. She had a way of turning the everyday into something extraordinary. She was a superb cook, always telling us all about how whatever she was making was "the worlds best" and a huge fan of the "progressive dinner." She was incredibly witty, and an all-around firecracker to say the least! She love, love, loved her swimming pool and filling it with family and friends including her life-long best friend, Leona. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her best girl, Sable.

Mom met Doug on Halloween night when two cavewomen (Karen and Chantelle) dragged mom out to the Horseshoe Tavern for some Shenanigans. After bumping into mom, she and Doug were inseparable for more than 30 years. Mom always said she didn't know if meeting Doug was more of a trick, or a treat!

Linda will live in the hearts of everyone she loved including her husband, Doug Walter Kotyk, her two daughters Shelley Marconi (Brent Foley), and Karen Marconi (James Thomson), her sister Marie Bunch, grandchildren Jack Pasciullo, Rachael, Kyle and Bryan Barry, and many nieces and nephews.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Jennie Matis (Semeniuk) on January 29, 2012, and Stephan Joseph Matis on August 5, 2005, and her friend and father of her two children Richard Joseph Marconi on November 28, 2012.

Linda's family would like to thank all the wonderful people who cared for her like she was their own mom, including Dr. Samantha Biggs, Dr. Andrew Migay, Dr Mohammed Bassuony and the nursing team on 4-North at St. Joseph's Hospice. These amazing people became like a family to us, and we are forever humbled and grateful for each of them. We are so appreciative of the support from our family who were all so generous with their time and love.

A celebration of Linda's life will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at her daughter's home, located at 951 Blind Creek Drive in Shuniah, ON, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a service starting at 2:00 p.m. Anyone who would like to celebrate Linda's life is welcome to attend. A private family interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens at later date.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Linda's memory to the Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease Foundation, Inc.

Sat many fun, challenging times with my desk next to this remarkable lady. Yes she was a talented designer to be sure , quick thinking, studious, loyal and very dedicated serving her clients at Lowes. The home she put together with Doug takes ones breath away.

Awesome communicator with a kindness and empathy mixed in with just the right humour for even the most sensitive heart always at just the right time.

I began missing Linda the moment she walked out of Lowes doors for her last time. Im proud to have known her.

Doug and family.........Im so sorry for your loss. This will be one thing we will share......all of us who knew Linda Kotyk.

I am so sorry to read of Linda´s passing. She was a sales representative for a company I would purchase giftware from for my employer. She was always so friendly and such a smart dresser. She talked about her family very lovingly. My sincerest sympathies to her husband and family you are all in my thoughts and prayers RIP Linda

Although we never got the pleasure of meeting such an amazing individual, we feel like we've been given the gift of knowing her through both of her daughters. Rest well, Linda, for He has called you home to sit by His side.

We are so sorry for your loss. Linda was indeed a firecracker! We would see one another at the gym, she would be on the treadmill and able to carry on a conversation with me! She always talked about how proud she was of both of you. A true momma bear!
Sending you love
