LINDA SALAMON Obituary

LINDA MARY SALAMON December 6, 1942 - January 26, 2024
It is with deep sadness and much grief that we announce the passing of my wife and mother of our two sons.

Linda was born in Manitoba and was brought to Fort William at the tender age of five. She attended public schools including Selkirk High School. She married her soulmate John Francis Salamon. Linda and John raised two sons, John Leonard and William Kevin.

In 1964 she entered the workplace, full time, with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community and Social Services and retired in 1997 from Options Northwest.

The centre of her life was her husband, sons and grandchildren. She was a vicarious reader, taught herself to knit, crochet, draw, watercolour, acrylic painting and computer technology. She loved all animals and birds and adopted many dogs and cats from rescue sources.

She was predeceased by her parents, Len and Connie, brothers James and Wayne, sisters-in-law Muriel and Linda, nephews Douglas and Lee as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Leaving to mourn her is her husband of 60 years, John; sons John Leonard (Kim) and Kevin (Kandi); grandchildren Johnathan (Jasmine), Ashley, Steven (Jackalyn) and Terry (Brenda). Linda has seven sisters and six brothers who will also miss her: Faith Schneider (Gerd), Jeraldine Scalzo (Primo), Dennis Joynson, Sharon Joynson (Stan), Sheila Feddick (Dave), Christine Darling (Blain), David Joynson, Kenny Joynson, April Johnson (Garth), Patrick Joynson (Jennifer), Timmy Joynson (Sheila) and Joyce Ferrari (Tony).

As per Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass for Linda Salamon will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cathedral with Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G. officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service at 12:30 p.m. A Reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Solarium Room of the Slovak Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Patrick's Cathedral or the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society would be appreciated.

The Salamon Family would like to thank St. Joseph's Hospice, the Cancer Care physicians and nurses of 1A at the TBRHSC and Dr. S. Klassen for their help given to Linda. We appreciate the condolences, gifts and visits from family and friends during these difficult times.
