LIZ MANNING Obituary

LIZ MANNING April 1, 1939 - July 8, 2024
In the quiet hours of the morning, Elizabeth Velma Manning (nee Walters), Lizzie to all who knew and loved her, returned to her maker after a long battle with Parkinson's, Dementia and Multiple Myeloma.

She was predeceased by her parents Ethel (McNulty) Walters and Cornelius Walters; sisters Diane, Gertie and Jane and brother Doug. Survived by three brothers Tom, Jerry and Ken and two sisters Marie and Helen. Leaving behind her husband Rolland after 63 years and 23000 sunrises; daughter Deborah and son Brian; 9 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

From an early age she demonstrated a solid work ethic starting on the farm where she helped with three younger siblings. Work started at Woolworth's then RCA in Renfrew, Eaton's, Safeway and ended with 38 years at A&P/Metro.

Never one for belongings, although she did have an owl collection, her favorite times were at Whitefish Lake with lifelong friends Joan and Foster Stanley. Walking the trails in the fall provided lots of material for conversation later on. Dancing was something else she enjoyed, especially when it would include couples that we still have in our life. Travel was always on the menu that took us to family and friends across Canada and the US. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, it only took a phone call or FaceTime to bring a smile to her face.

Cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers or food trays, donations to Myeloma Canada, Parkinson's Foundation, Hospice Northwest or the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.

A special thank you to the medical personnel that were part of our life these past few years. The care received at the Regional and the TCU was personal and comforting. Her final days at Pioneer Ridge, starting in 2021, could not have been more family oriented and I feel blessed that she was able to spend her last days there.

My deepest condolences to the Manning families. I had the pleasure of working with Liz at A&P until her retirement from Metro. She was an amazing lady, with a fabulous work ethic and who could out work the younger men.
