LOIS KIVIPELTO Obituary


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Elaine Kivipelto (née Abbe) on November 12, 2025, in Ottawa, at the age of 85. Lois was born in Elyria, Ohio and spent much of her life in the Thunder Bay area. Predeceased by her parents Dudley and Blanche (née Burket) Abbe and brother Dale, all of Elyria, Ohio. She will be deeply missed by her sons Esa and Verner (both of Thunder Bay), daughter Nell (Jon) Hamalainen of Ottawa, and grandchildren Kyle and Ella.

Lois will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, for her love of gardening and healthy living, as an avid reader and independent thinker, and for her fearless determination.

Cremation with a private family service and interment will take place in Thunder Bay.
