LORNE DUBOIS Obituary

March 13, 1939 ~ January 18, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce Lorne Edward Dubois, age 86 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly at TBRHSC with his family by his side on January 18, 2026. Born on March 13, 1939, in Fort William, where he was raised and educated, attending Selkirk High School. He met the love of his life, Marlene Ruthven, in 1956 and they married on May 3, 1958. After starting a family, they enjoyed camping with their 5 young children and eventually found Pass Lake Campground where they continued with a seasonal spot until this past summer. Lorne was employed with Jessiman Motors, which later became Tilden Rent a Car. He became the owner and partner with Marlene and they were fortunate enough to retire in 1986 after many great years working together. After retirement, they found their favorite place in Harlingen, Texas where they spent every winter for 28 years and made many great friends and greater memories. Lorne is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marlene; 5 children, Debbie (Dave), Don (Brenda), Shelley (Al), Sherry (Jim) and Lorna (Randy); 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and recently, 2 great-great twin grandchildren. Also, 2 siblings, Marilyn Smilski and Brian Dubois; and many nieces and nephews. Lorne is predeceased by his parents and 4 siblings. Family was everything to him and when the grandchildren showed up, there was a smile on his face that nothing could remove. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of 2B and the ICU at the Regional Hospital for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and as per Lorne's wishes, there will be no service. Internment will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens. If so desired, donations made to the TBRHSC-ICU Department would be greatly appreciated.
