Lorne Fedoruk, age 82, passed away in hospital with family and friends by his side on January 24th, 2023.
Lorne was born on November 14th, 1940 in Port Arthur. He worked for Provincial Papers Inc. as the Superintendent for Quality Assurance until his retirement.
He met his love Judy in 1964 and they were married on February 13th, 1965. They both love travelling and seeing the world together. Over the years they travelled to China, Vietnam, Thailand, Belize, and more.
One of Lorne's life passions was hockey. He spent a large part of his life mentoring and coaching youth hockey. He was a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan but in recent years became a devoted fan of the Winnipeg Jets. Last year he was able to attend a Jets home game and he was more excited than child watching them in person.
Lorne was most happy tinkering in his gardens and spending time with his family and friends who were the center of his universe.
He is survived by his wife Judy; sons Dean, Blair (Debbie), Ryan, Matthew (Nadine); grandchildren Isaiah, Lucy, Krista; great granddaughter Sharayne and sister Eleanor. He was predeceased by loving granddaughter Abigail.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at TBRHSC, especially those in ICU, for the loving care and compassion they provided to Lorne and our family during his last days.
As per Lorne's wishes there will be no service. A celebration of life is planned for August , 2023.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

A dear friend and life long mentor has skated away, leaving a legacy of inspiration and kindness. Lorne cared deeply for 'Elbows Nickerson' and generations of Bearcats. Lorne instilled the love of hockey in me as a 10 year old boy, and for this, I will be eternally grateful. I have Judy Fedoruk and all those who loved Lorne in my thoughts and prayers as this final horn sounds on a life of extraordinary giving

I would like to say how sorry I am to learn about the passing of Lorne. First met Lorne as a youth playing hockey with the West End Bearcats and then for over 30 plus years at Provincial Papers. His wit and sense of humour drew many people to look forward to seeing him. Since retiring every time I met up with Lorne I knew what was happening for the next half hour I will miss those conversations. My condolences go out the family.

He was my coach. I have not seen Lorne since 1975, give or take a couple of years, but to this day, throughout all of these years, I have never forgotten him and have seriously thought of him quite often. Never forgot how he looked, how he spoke, his kindness and how he treated me as a person, even as a kid. I respected him so much and I believe that is how he treated me. He has definitely influenced my life in a very positive way. I am a better citizen because of him. Thank you Lorne.

Lorne Fedoruk a true champion, in the mid 70s our regular coach could not make the trip to Sudbury for a major bantam hockey tournament so Lorny stepped in and took over our West End Bearcats Bantam team. Undefeated we made it to the final against the #1 team from Quebec beating them 3-1 in the final to win the Tournament. I'm sure this is one of hundreds of great memories Lorne provided for young hockey players over the years. Lorne was a true leader and a great inspiration. On behalf of all my team mates from that championship team, Peter King, Glen Wilson, David Ducharme, Bruce McCullough, Rod McKinnon, Gary Thompson, Ian Low-achee, and the rest of the team........
THANKS COACH!!!
