Lorraine Stirrett Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lorraine on December 9th, 2021 in Prince George, BC after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Lorraine was born in Thunder Bay on March 7th, 1960 to Alfred and Mamie Matson and grew up in the family home on Mountain Road.

Lorraine had three beautiful daughters that kept her busy over the years. As well as a grandson that she adored.

Lorraine moved from Thunder Bay approximately 35 years ago and lived in various locations out west, Edmonton, and Hinton, Alberta, Angusville, Manitoba, and most recently Prince George, BC, with her daughter Ashley.

Some of Lorraine's passions were being outdoors, hiking, photography, and later in life furniture restoration, gardening and baking. When Lorraine made a pie, it wasn't just a pie, but a work of art that tasted as good as it looked.

In July 2021 Lorraine was informed she was cancer free only to find out in late August it had returned. Upon receiving the news, she moved to Prince George to be closer to her family. She will be forever in our hearts.

Her father, as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles predeceased Lorraine. She is survived by her mother Mamie Matson, daughters Ashley Johnson (Mark) and grandson Tyson Lanuk, Prince George, BC, Vanessa Stirrett (Rodney Steele) Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, and Samantha Stirrett, Kamloops, BC. Brothers and sisters, Brian Matson (Debbie) Peachland, BC, Alan Matson (Marlene) Thunder Bay, ON, Karen Cameron (Jim) Kamloops, BC, and Kevin Matson (Kristal) Thunder Bay, ON, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A sincere Thank you to the Nurses and Doctors of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society who gave Lorraine as well as the family members such caring and kind support.

As per Lorraine's wishes she was cremated and will have her ashes spread, at the family camp in Upsala ON.

If you so desire, donations in Lorraine's memory would be greatly appreciated to the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society. Pghpcs.ca

Sending our deepest sympathies to all the family during this loss. I was so shocked to hear of her passing, a great mom and person! We used to live in the same house on Mountdale Ave and her daughter Ashley and mine were the same age, they played lots as young children. Sending hugs to all of you!
