He is also survived by his sister Szekeres Tolvanne (Dawn) and nieces and nephews in Hungary. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister Rose of Hungary. Louis left his homeland when it was occupied by the Russians after the Second World War and found sanctuary in allied held Europe. He worked many jobs until he, without a dime, immigrated to Canada. Louis wanted to become a citizen and give back to his adopted country. He joined the Army Reserve Medical Unit working his way up to the rank of Sergeant and attended summer camp every year until he retired at 65. He became an ambulance attendant until the service left the hospital at which time he went back to being an orderly and later on a physiotherapist aid. He also joined the St. Joseph's Ambulance as a first aid volunteer at many events. Louis was also a cadet leader and first aid instructor. Louis worked hard and saved so that he could buy a home on Dease Street where he had been a boarder and he lived there until failing health led to his move into Bethammi Nursing Home. A graveside service for Mr. Louis Nyul will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m."
