Luba Chalat Obituary

Mrs. Luba "Loverne" Chalat (nee Symanyshyn) age 90 years, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Loverne was born June 9, 1927 in Fort William to Alex and Mary. Loverne attended Heath Park School and Selkirk Collegiate & Vocational Institute. She was employed at Can Car and Revenue Canada. Loverne and John "Jack" were married September 2, 1950, and while Jack worked for CN, Loverne also ran Loverne's Confectionary. Loverne, Jack and Murray enjoyed many family vacations that included Europe and numerous USA and Canadian destinations. She was a lifetime member of the Westfort Prosvita, where countless perogies were made, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Vlodymyr's, where she also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She held a perfect attendance record with the Golden Age Bowling
Club from 89-92. Loverne is survived by her son Murray (Kim), granddaughter Amanda (Kris), grandson Brandon, and Autumn and Mikaela. She is predeceased by Jack (2000) and brother Morris (2014). Thank you to the dedicated, compassionate staff at Pinewood Court. A private family graveside service will take place. Reception will be held at the Westfort Prosvita on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.

Loverne Chalat will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2018.
