LUC CONNELL Obituary

CONNELL, LUC
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Luc Matthew Connell on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre at the age of 55. Luc was born on October 28, 1970, at Port Arthur General. He graduated from Hammarskjold High School where, beginning as a teenager, he worked with trucks alongside his father for Connell's Trucking and Connell's Service. In the late 1990s, Luc began his work with the City of Thunder Bay, having served most recently as a Skilled Sewer and Water Worker. One of Luc's passions for many years in his career was advocating as a Steward with CUPE Local 87. If you knew Luc, you knew he liked to have a good time. Luc could often be found with a bottle of Canadian in his hand while he furiously cheered on the Habs and chirped any Leafs fans in sight. He passed on his love of wrestling to his kids, along with his pack-rat spirit, collecting anything he thought might make him rich someday. He was never afraid to offer his couch to someone in need, and his outspoken nature meant he was never afraid to speak his mind and to let his opinions be known. Luc is survived by his sons Jack, Jordon, Daniel, and daughter Amy (Adam); sister Korene; brothers Ronald (Cindy), Curtis, Ryan; grandchildren Mya and Jayden; lifetime friend Joe Monteleone; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other loved family members. Luc is predeceased by his father Walter (Jack) Connell, mother Carolyn Connell (nee Gonyou), and sister Susan. Luc's remains have been cremated, and plans are underway for a burial and celebration of life to take place in Upsala later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Luc's memory to Shelter House Thunder Bay.

To Luc´s Boys and his Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Luc passing away. Growing up we were friends and neighbours for years, always remaining in touch throughout the years. Luc was a great guy , devoted Dad and loyal friend. Such terrible news.
Rest Peacefully "Louki"...

Growing up with Luc and his siblings when they lived on Picton Avenue brings back so many memories of our "shenanigans", building a fort in the back woods, riding ATV´s, going out to Upsala and periodically getting into trouble when we were younger, these are the memories I will remember always.

5 years ago on Luc´s 50th Birthday I was re-introduced to Luc´s Lifetime Best Friend Joe Monteleone and he is now my Husband.

Korene, Ronnie, Jack and the rest of the Connell Family, please accept our heartfelt condolences in the loss of your Brother and Father, you will be missed Luc. May you Rest In Eternal Peace.

Lori and Joe Monteleone.
