It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Luigi (Louie) Costanzo on September 6, 2009 with his family and friends by his side. Louie was born on July 18th 1949 in Pedivigliano, Italy to Angelo and Teresa Costanzo. At the age of nine, his family moved to Canada to start a new life. At a young age Louie discovered his talent as a stone mason and took great pride in his work. It is no surprise to those who knew Louie that his family was his pride and joy. His favourite times were spent with his wife, kids and three granddaughters. He also enjoyed the summers out at camp, spending time with his Pine Point friends, fishing and telling stories around the camp fire. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 38 years Jeannie (Nee Hoogsteen), his three children Louisa, (Kathleen), Chris, (Tammy), Jenny (Davey), his three grandchildren Jordan, Jacklyn, Parker, his brother Attilio (Cathy, Melissa, Katie, Cory) and his sister Franca (Mario, Tony, Nico). He will also be sadly missed by many great friends and several family members. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the Thunder Bay Regional Health and Sciences Centre for all your help in making him comfortable in his final days. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday September 9th at 8:00 pm at St. Dominic's Church, with a funeral in his honour on Thursday September 10th at St. Dominic's Church at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held after the funeral to celebrate his life at the Slovak Legion at 12:30 pm. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honour to the
Cancer Society or a trust fund set up for his granddaughters at CIBC Branch 897 account 83-20888,"
