Marcel Hogan Obituary

It is with saddened hearts the family of Marcel "Patrick" Hogan announce his passing at Pinewood Court on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Pat was born in Fort William on July 23, 1926 to Thomas Ambrose Hogan and Loretta Aurore Mercil. He was raised in a loving home with ten brothers and sisters. He attended St. Martin's and St. Patrick's schools. Later he obtained his senior matriculation through night school. At age eighteen Pat joined the navy and proudly served his country on the high seas. He worked for Canada Car for 28 years and for 20 years at the Catholic School Boardand retired at age 65. Pat was a strong and faithful member of St. Patrick's Cathedral parish and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus #1447. Home and family were most important in Pat's life. He was a beloved husband, a loving father and a dear "Papa". He will be sadly missed by his wife Stella, of 63 years and his children Glenn (Patti) Hogan, Laurie (Jim) Flood and Marcie (Rob) Wilson; by his grandchildren Tara (Jason Scriver) Hogan, Tyler, Tasha (Chris Schelling) Hogan, Sean Flood, Nolan and Evan Wilson; and his great grandchildren Xander, Addison and Meryk Scriver. Pat is also survived by three brothers Francis (Gladys), Robert and Bernard (Margaret) and sisters-in-law Helen Hogan and Sylvia Hogan. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Loretta Hogan, son Gerald Robert in infancy, his siblings Harvey (Elsie), Geraldine (Ron) Lambert, Eleanor (John) Elvish, Rosemary (John) Oger, Thomas, Michael and Terrance. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 when family and friends will gather for funeral Mass at 11:00am, at St. Patrick's Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday evening, May 20, 2014 from 6-8pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel with Vigil services offered at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Thunder Bay, St. Patrick's Cathedral Building Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
