Marcel Bertrand Joseph Tardif, age 75 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away on March 14, 2017 with family by his side.
Marcel was born a resident of Quebec, along with 12 siblings. He then journeyed westward and met his soulmate, Marielle Murphy. He married his wife of 53 years in 1964 and had two children.
Marcel, in partnership with his wife, was very much an entrepreneur, being self-employed as a logging truck owner/driver, school and charter bus fleet operator/driver and then a resort owner/operator.
He was an avid outdoorsman, a talented mechanic and carpenter, and was always prepared to remedy any situation. A devoted Past-President of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Marcel enjoyed helping those in need.
Marcel will sadly be missed by his wife Marielle, son Mike Tardif (Teri), daughter Suzanne Tardif, grandchildren Monique Tardif, Marc Tardif, and Marcel Tardif. Numerous sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews also survive. Marcel was predeceased by two grandchildren and several siblings.
Marcel's family is very grateful for the outstanding care that he received during his difficult illness, sending immense thanks to the IMCU at TBRHSC and the vast medical staff that supported him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, with Rev. Jerin Louis of St. Agnes Catholic Church presiding. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service and during the reception to follow.

Marcel was the best of neighbours. After the first snowstorm we had after my husband died, I heard a noise outside and, looking out the window, I saw Marcel snowbling a path in my back yard. I was so touched I started crying.
He helped me with the weedwhacker because I didn't know how to work it. He dug up some raspberry plants and threw them over the fence for me to plant. I'll be thinkin of him every time I check my raspberry bushes.
Thanks neighbour. I'll miss you.
