Margaret Harvey Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother Margaret Bernice Harvey passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 9, 2023, at Pioneer Ridge nursing home at age 93. Bernice was born on August 8, 1929, in East Angus, Quebec.

In the late 1940's she moved to Red Rock, like many did back in the day, to make her fortune at the mill. That's where she met Leo Harvey, got married and had 3 sons and became a stay-at-home mom. Once the boys were older, she went back to work as a secretary for the town's Rec Centre and Police Service Board, which she took great pride in doing. Bernice loved reading books, newspapers and clipping numerous articles that caught her interest. She enjoyed scrapbooking and she could do a crossword puzzle in record time. She loved corresponding with friends and family with her beautiful handwritten letters. Upon retirement Bernice spent countless hours working in her flower gardens.

Bernice is survived her sons, Steven in Toronto, ON, Gordon (Lorri) in Thunder Bay, Dean (Suzanne) in Ft. McMurray, AB, Six grandchildren Meagan (Kyle), Krista, Alex (Carli), Caitlyn (Josh), Jaedyn (Nic), Cameron (Maddie), two great grandchildren Carter and Mya, and nephew David.

She was predeceased by her parents Ann and William Miles, brother Sherwood and sisters Sadie and Muriel and nephew Henry.

Special thanks to the staff at the Nipigon Hospital and Pioneer Ridge for the care and kindness to Bernice for the past few years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Adelina Pecchia officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nipigon Hospital.
