Margaret Munro Obituary

November 8, 1928 - Gooseberry Island, Newfoundland

October 6, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Peggy Munro passed into the presence of her Lord peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2022, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 93 years.

Peggy was born in on November 8, 1928, on Gooseberry Island, NL, to Fred and Margaret Perry, the third of four children. She lived on the island until she was 16 years old and then moved to Fort William, ON, with her parents. There she met Rod Munro whom she married in 1960. She had a wonderful career in nursing, first employed at McKeller Hospital, eventually making her way to Pinewood Court. She loved the residents, advocated for them, and entertained them. For many years she was involved in the Women's Institute in Vickers Heights and eventually became their president. Upon retirement, Rod and Peggy moved to Calgary, AB, to be closer to their grandchildren.

Peggy loved to cook, and Sunday suppers were her favourite with family. She spent many hours on her knitting machine, as well as crocheting hundreds of dish cloths. She participated in local craft sales each fall for years, showcasing her crafts and it was a highlight each year. Her crossword puzzle book and a cup of tea were always in hand. She loved the Blue Jays and never missed a curling game.

Peggy lived her life through Christ and was a member of the Salvation Army her entire life. While in Calgary, she joined the over 60 club where she not only participated but went on to organize and run. Here she made many close friends and shared many good laughs and devotions. Peggy was a giver and gave so much to so many people.

Peggy is lovingly remembered by her children, Scott (Charlene) Campbell, Susan (Curtis) Dobush, Laurie Munro; as well as her grandchildren, Jordan, Jesse, and Halle Colley. She has been reunited in Heaven with her parents, her husband Rod, her sister Tillie, and brother Charlie. She is survived by her brother Bill (Dorothy) Perry in Regina, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was loved, precious and special to so many.
