Maria Arruda Obituary
The family of Maria Arruda is heartbroken to announce her passing in hospital on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Maria immigrated to Montreal from Sao Miguel, Portugal, in 1966, and 17 years later moved to Thunder Bay to marry her love, Messias Arruda. They welcomed children Anne-Marie and Bryan, and built a life centred on family and happiness.
Funeral services for Maria will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10:00 am in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Fr. Luigi Filippini officiating. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening after 6:30pm in the Everest Chapel, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00 pm, led by Deacon Pasquale Coccimiglio.

I was really good friends with Anne Marie growing up in Mariday Park. So many good memories of being spoiled watching TGIF Fridays nights upstairs. Always smiling, always welcoming new friends, and never short of snacks. I am so sorry for your loss.
