Marja-Leena Teravainen Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of a wonderful Mother, wife and dear friend Marja-Leena Teravainen. Born on July 4th, 1947 in Finland, she came to Canada with her husband John. Here in Thunder Bay they started their life, having two wonderful boys, Timo and Tony. She had many friends who knew her from her days of working. Marja was spirited entrepreneur and ran the Kestituppa for many years. She then purchased the Finn Café restaurant which she also had for many years until she was so troubled with Arthritis, she was forced to give it up. Marja, even through the pain, smiled and went on to care for others as a Homemaker with Bayshore where she cared for the clients as if they were her own family. She retired recently but continued to help anyone in need that were her friends and neighbours in the building where she lived. She was always smiling and always saw the "good" in most everyone and everything. Marja loved the outdoors, nature and animals of all kinds; she had an uncanny relationship with animals and would have wild birds feeding from her hands within a short period of time, her soft voice speaking Finn to them as they sat in the tree listening. They would soon flutter down to sit with her. Marja also had two cats she loved dearly, which she referred to as her "kids". She loved life, and had many special memories of camping and fishing with her family and many of her two boy's friends that would accompany them on there frequent trips to go fishing, usually "down Spruce River Road". Her family was the world to her and she cherished spending time with them, they were always the forefront in her thoughts and prayers. Following cremation, Private Funeral Services will be held. Marja-Leena will be missed but not forgotten by all who were privileged enough to meet her, know her and love her. On-Line Condolences may be offered at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca "
