MARJORIE DEAGLE Obituary

MARJORIE PATRICIA DEAGLE September 3, 1921 - September 22, 2023
Mrs. Marjorie (Patricia) Deagle, aged 102 years, formerly of 344 East Francis Street, Thunder Bay, passed away on September 22, 2023 with family by her side at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

She was the youngest daughter of the late Norman and Ida Smart. Marjorie attended Central Public School and Selkirk High School. As a young girl she enjoyed dancing classes and performing in the "Santa Clause Show" at the Orpheum Theatre.

Marjorie worked at Canada Car before her marriage to Thomas Blake Glenn on November 9, 1943 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church where she was a member and always enjoyed ushering and greeting people. Their son, Thomas Blake, was born July 12, 1945 and passed away May 10, 1946 in Rochester, MN during heart surgery.

On June 10, 1950 Marjorie was married to Joseph Nickey Deagle in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Agnew H. Johnathon. Their son Richard (Rickey) was born on August 15, 1951 and passed away suddenly December 26, 1951 in McKellar General Hospital. Their son Bruce was born February 6, 1956 in McKellar Hospital.

Marjorie was a member of Sapphire Rebekah Lodge 309, joining December 1, 1959. She became Past Noble Grand and served in many offices. She volunteered at McKellar General Hospital with the quick cart. Marjorie's home and family were her main interests and her grandchildren were "very special" to her.

Marjorie is survived by her son Bruce Deagle and grandchildren Shawna, Justin and Samantha Deagle and great granddaughters Kate and Isabel; Tom and grandchildren Joe, Jeff and Elyssa Rose and great grandson Matthew. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by son Richard (Ricky); her husband (Nickey) Joseph Deagle who passed away August 15, 1977 following a lengthy stay in McKellar General Hospital and Toronto due to heart problems. He was also a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and had worked many years at Canada Malting Co. Also predeceased by her parents; husband Blake; brothers Jackie (in infancy), Keith and Bud; sisters Audrey Godfrey and Helen Rudman as well as nephew Larry Godfrey and by her sister-in-law Margaret Smart.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held a later date.

Bruce
Please accept my condolences on the death of your mother. Despite her advanced years, the death of a parent remains a significant loss and a major milestone in life. I hope that fond memories of her bring you and your family comfort.

Bruce I am so sorry for your loss. Growing up in Westfort was such a gift. Your mom was always out and about and her presence was always a comfort to me, she is surely one of the last from that wonderful time in our lives. Bruce you were blessed to have your mom for all these years. I hope all of the memories can help with the pain of your enormous loss.
