Marjorie Holm Obituary

Mrs. Marjorie Edna Holm of Pinewood Court, formerly of 433 Shamrock Crescent, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23 in her 87th year. Marge was born in Fort William, Ontario on March 22, 1927, the daughter of Carl and Mary Stitt. She grew up in Sioux Lookout and Fort William, graduating from FWCI in 1945. Marge then entered nursing, graduating from the Port Arthur General Hospital in 1948 as an RN. It was later that year that Marge met Carl Lester Holm, and they were married on January 27, 1949. They lived originally on Franklin Street, and then moved to the family home at 433 Shamrock Crescent in 1956 where they would reside until 2012. Marge and Carl recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. Marge attended St Agnes Church for almost 60 years, where she was an active member of the St Agnes CWL, and she also volunteered with the St Agnes liturgy group at Pinewood Court for over 40 years. In addition, Marge worked on numerous Christmas Cheer campaigns. Much of the focus of Marge's life, however, was in the service of her family. For much of her adult life, she was the primary care giver for most of her older relatives, and devoted much of her time selflessly caring for others, particularly those in need. Marge was certainly the rock of the family, and was well respected by family and friends for her compassion and desire to help others. In her earlier years, she was an avid bridge player, and she also enjoyed golf, bowling, cycling and cross country skiing. Her greatest pleasure came, however, from spending time with her family. She loved hosting and attending the many family celebrations over the years. She was always proud of the accomplishments of her children and grand children, and in recent years, was very happy to be blessed with great grand children as well. During their earlier retirement years, Marge and Carl travelled extensively including many trips to the USA as well as one trip to England. In recent years, they particularly enjoyed trips to Saskatoon and Calgary to visit their growing
family out west. Predeceased by her father and mother, Carl Stitt and Mary Sumpton, step father Hap Sumpton, great aunts Nan & Marjorie Stitt and Edna MacKinnon, brother Donald Stitt, sister-in-law Viola Stitt, father-in-law, Charlie Holm, mother-in-law, Ida Holm, and son Andrew Holm. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered, Marjorie leaves to mourn Carl, her husband of 66 years, 3 children, Jeff (Audrey), Greg (Jackie), and Karen Lefkowith (Don), 5 grand children: Jennifer, Daniel, Johanna, Tara and Kaitlyn, and 5 great grand children: Carter, Weston, Logan, Kaden and Brady. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff members at both Pinewood Court as well as Isabella Retirement Living for their wonderful care of both Marge and Carl over the past few years, particularly during the past couple of weeks. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 12:10pm, at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam. Interment will follow at a later date. If friends desire, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.

Marjorie Holm will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.

Remembering the great conversations and laughs while she was getting her hair done at my sister's house. What a wonderful lady. Her work on earth is done and the Lord has welcomed her home. We will meet again someday.
