MARLENE O'LEARY Obituary

July 26, 1948 ~ January 11, 2024
It is with deep sadness that the family of Ms. Marlene Gail O'Leary (nee: Buzzie), age 75 years, resident of Thunder Bay, announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Hogarth Riverview Manor with family by her side, on the 50th anniversary of her moms passing.

Born on July 26, 1948, in Fort William, to Albert and Ruth Buzzie (Mills), she was raised and educated in Thunder Bay. Marlene was a hairdresser until she left to raise her children. Marlene went back to school later in life to obtain her Social Service Worker diploma. She was quite proud of that accomplishment and enjoyed her career as a Social Service Worker with the Children's Aid Society, until her retirement.

Marlene was a very sociable person and enjoyed her times out dancing, which was one of her favourite things to do. When her health declined, she often talked about how much she missed being able to dance her feet off. At home, there was always country music playing. Her children will never listen to Kenny Rogers, Willy Nelson, Tanya Tucker, or Elvis Presley without thinking of her.

Her home had an open-door policy and often had numerous people visiting on any given day. Mom had many struggles in her lifetime, and because of that she was always willing to help anyone who needed it, as much as she was able to.

She leaves behind her children, Sheri-Lyn (Mark) and Jason (Kerri); brother, Allan Buzzie "her little bro"; special grandson, Jamie "her little buddy"; as well as numerous other grandchildren, and extended relatives.

Predeceased by her parents, Albert (1991) and Ruth (1974) (nee: Mills) Buzzie; sister, Linda Babichuk (1993); and brother, Gary Buzzie (2008).

As per Marlene's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace Place or the Catholic Action Centre St. Vincent De Paul, in her name would be greatly appreciated.

I lived beside Marlene for many years. She was a great friend and confidant. We used to go to the Adanac where she loved to dance and we would often "dance the night away". I always meant to go back to visit but just never seemed to get around to it. I regret that now RIP my friend.
