In the loving presence of his wife of forty years, his devoted family, and in the faith of Jesus Christ, Martin Edward Mitchell passed peacefully in his London home on Monday, March 27, 2017. Following his long struggle with cancer, Martin is survived by his wife Noel (nee Konkol), daughters Tracy Nelson (Gord) and Jessica Bondy (Matthew) and his first grandchild, Rowan. Born in Port Arthur, now Thunder Bay, Ontario, on December 6, 1953 to Mr. and Mrs. George Arthur and Vera Maud Mitchell, Martin met his bride while both served with the Royal Canadian Navy's (Reserve) HMCS Griffon in Thunder Bay. Martin went on to a career in senior executive roles in the Information Technology field and then into a successful consulting practice. He grew up an avid outdoorsman, fishing and hunting often with his father and brother, and was a life-long craftsman. He loved long, warm vacations with family and friends in Cancun, Mexico. Martin was a devoted family man and community member, with deep ties to the Royal Canadian Legion, the Byron Optimist Minor Baseball Association, the Highland Country Club, and St. Anne's Church (Anglican). He is lovingly remembered by family and friends as a gracious and welcoming host, friend, and colleague. Martin reunites now with his parents and his brother, Mervin. A funeral service will be held for family and friends on Monday, April 3, at 10:30am at St. Anne's Anglican Church in Byron (1344 Commissioners Road West, London, ON), with a light reception to follow at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 533 (1276 Commissioners Road West, London, ON).
