Mary Bakos Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Lorreta Bakos, age 79, at St. Joseph's Hospice on Thursday, August 7, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Mary was a resident of Paterson Court and a former long-time resident of McIntosh St. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards, and being a member of the Slovak Legion, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's League. Sports were very much a part of her life, especially the Toronto Blue Jays. Mary loved to entertain her relatives and friends. She cared greatly for her family, and was very kind and generous. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion. Every child in the family thought she was special. Mary worked for many years at Buset's Chartered Accountants. Mary will be greatly missed by her nephews Larry, Don (Dryden), and John Bakos Jr., as well as her niece Maureen Bakos, and their families, and special friend Theresa Furick. She will also be very sadly missed by her nephews John (Donna), Frank (Jean) Wojciechowski, and her niece Pauline (Glen) Mills, and their families. Mary was predeceased by her mother and father, Frank and Ann, sister Christine and husband John, brother John and wife Mary, Sherry (Don's wife), and great nephew Jeffrey. The family would like to thank Dr. Vergidis and the Cancer Unit Staff at TBRHSC, and the very caring staff at St. Joseph's Hospice. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at St. Patrick's Cathedral at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 12, 2014.
