Mary Fummerton Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Fummerton announces the passing of a very special mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mary passed away peacefully on April 25th, surrounded by love and in the presence of her entire family. Born August 28th, 1924, to Giovanni and Anna Stortini, in Jackfish, Ontario, Mary moved to Schreiber when she married Elton Fummerton. Mary's abiding interest in life was her family- her children, siblings, and most especially her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She loved to cook and take care of people. A spaghetti dinner was the high light of the week, and enjoyed by her family every Saturday evening. Sundays were also special times, spent at Scott's camp at Hydro Bay with the extended family. Mary's special butter tarts were always enjoyed by everyone. For the past 60 years, Mary was always a devoted and committed member of Holy Angels Parish and the Catholic Women's league. Over the years, Mary worked for her church and several priests. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Giovanni and Anna, her beloved husband, Elton, in 1980, A very special son, Mark, in 2005, brothers Rollie, Naldo and Short, as well as numerous other relatives. She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Anna & Mike (Mark, Brad , Katie) Ron & Deb (Scott & Stacy, Daryl & June, Veronica) Darlene & Ron (Tyler, Malorey, Emily, Steven) Gordon, and Shirley (Dustin, Michael) Also surviving, are her sisters and best friends, Rita Scott, Nita & Bill Cook, Val & Arnie O'Keefe, her brother John & Sylvia Stortini and Sisters-in laws, Teresa Stortini, Sylvia Stortini and Florence Whent as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Mary will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all those lives she touched. She was a very special lady. Visitation will be at the King Funeral Home in Schreiber on Thursday, April 27th, from 7 - 9:00pm. with Prayers beginning at 8:00pm. A Resurrection Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am. Friday April 28th, at Holy Angel's Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber, with interment to follow in Schreiber Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation/Tamarack House."
