(STASIW) August 15, 1954 - November 3, 2023
Mrs. Mary Anna Gonyou, age 69, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2023, at the TBRHSC in the arms of her loving Husband Glenn and her loving son David with her family by her side. Deeply loved wife, mother, sister, auntie, great-auntie, grandmother and friend.
Mary was born in 1954 at the Port Arthur General with her twin sister Eva to Fred and Anna Stasiw. Mary and Glenn met in Upsala when she was 18 and he was 17 and continued on to become high school sweethearts. Mary and Glenn had just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on October 12th, 2023. Together, they raised one son, David, who was born on October 9th, 1975.
Mary had an amazing green thumb and it showed in her beautiful gardens. She has always had a love for her flowers and gardens, as well as the hummingbirds and squirrels that visited while she worked. Her fur babies Smokey and Chocolate were her world as well.
Mary enjoyed doing puzzles and playing computer games for hours on end. She always enjoyed helping Glenn and Dave on many home projects. Painting, drywall, tear down, etc. She was always right in there lending a helping hand. Mary was an avid Leafs fan and didn't miss too many Toronto Maple Leafs games. You could only imagine the tension and hooting and hollering on Saturday nights, when the Canadians were playing the Leafs, which was Glenn's favorite team. Their home was decorated with memorabilia, one wall is full of blue and white and the other red, white and blue.
Mary was employed at Northern Engineering and Eecol Electric prior to moving to Calgary in 1998 with Glenn.
Mary is survived by her Husband Glenn, son David. Grandchildren, Charity Chapman, Samantha and Linda Nyman.
