Our memories have now become treasures as we announce the sudden passing of Mary Martyn on Monday, March 14th, 2016. Mary was the eldest child of Michael and Lucy Yozipovic. She was raised in Port Arthur with her three siblings, Anne (Siczkar-Fowler), Tony Yozipovic and Amy (Capulak) in a loving home filled with warmth and pride in their Croatian heritage. Mary was known by both family and friends as a strong-willed, fun-loving woman with a heart of gold. She was always willing to help others, especially her family and was a devoted caregiver to her parents until their passing. Never having had children of her own, she embraced her nieces and nephews with kindness, laughter and love. It was on March 18th, 1978 that Mary began her own love story when she married Harold Martyn. Mary's many endearing qualities made her a welcomed member of the Martyn family. Mary and Harold celebrated thirty-five years of life together until his passing on September 3, 2013. Mary's sense of style, entertaining wit, love of dancing and singing and her winsome smile were never diminished even as she endured the challenges of Alzheimer's for the last 12 years. Stories of her ‘modelling days' and dancing performances were repeatedly shared with great delight and she willingly shared her talents at the entertainment events hosted at Hogarth. The staff and residents of Hogarth Riverview Manor became her ‘additional family'. She prided herself as having served as President on the Residents' Council. Mary truly appreciated the love and attentive care that she received from the entire Hogarth staff. Respecting Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. Those wishing to pay tribute to Mary's memory, please consider making donations to the Alzheimer Society or another charity of choice.

Mary was one of the first residents that I met at Hogarth when my Mom was moving in last year. She was always smiling and was so generous with her compliments. She had an eye for fashion and was a delight to engage in conversation. She warmed my heart at every visit. I will miss you Mary. My sincerest condolences to the family.
