1937 - 2013Mrs. Mary Necan, age 75 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 with family by her side.Mary was born on December 25, 1937 in Central Patricia, Ontario to Edward and Katie Keesickquayash. She was very proud of her culture and loved the traditional native way of life. She also enjoyed blueberry picking, moose hunting, knitting, crocheting and going to the trap line. Mary's faith was strong and she loved going to church. Family was most important to Mary, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews all of whom she loved greatly. Mary was a happy outgoing person.Mary is survived by her children Darlene Necan, Donna (Henry) Rogers, Russell Necan (Rosemary Panacheese), Lillian Necan (Henry Gustafson) and Virgina Necan; grandchildren Nicholas Necan (Melanie Bell), Crystal Lynn Necan, Sheldon Necan (Christine James), Deanna Marie Necan, Kenneth Rogers, Cheryl Necan, Zachary Kyle Necan, Summer Bergman, Amber Faye Necan and Shyla Necan; great-grandchildren Randy Lynn Necan, Kyle Marie Necan, Zoe Necan, Angelina Renaud, Brianne, Seth Ritch, Noah Jacobs-Necan, Melony Necan, Rene Necan, Christy Necan, Michelle Necan, Chantel Necan and Honeybell Necan. She is also survived by siblings Eva Skunk, Frank Keesickquayash, George (Nancy) Keesickquayash and Helen (Ken) Buchan; son in law Vernon Dean Goodwin and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives from the Wassaykeesic, Keesickquayash, Skunk, Machimity, Muckuck, Lawson and Bottles Families as well as the entire family of Ojibway Nation of Saugeen Indian Tribe #258.She was predeceased by her husband, Norman; daughter Elinor Necan; grandson Daniel Trevor Necan; her parents and siblings, Clara Machimity, Sarah and Soloman Keesickquayash.A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for all of the care and comfort you provided to Mary. Also to Pastor Roma Fisher and his wife Anita for the spiritual guidance and love you have shown to her over the years.Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, Thunder Bay. Transfer will be made to Mishkeegogamang First Nation where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 10:00AM in the House of Prayer.
