Mrs. MaryEllen MacDonald (née Fiorito) passed away in Thunder Bay, Ontario on August 30th, 2015 after a lengthy illness at the age of 74. MaryEllen was born on February 6th, 1941 in Fort William, Ontario and grew up in Pardee township. After completing school, MaryEllen had varying life experiences, bringing her to travel and live at a variety of places, becoming a mother to four children, and working in several professions. In 1983, she married Gary MacDonald, where they continued on with their lives together living in Scoble and O'Connor townships. She held employment at many places during her working years such as Can-Car, Lakehead University, Pizza Delight, Duncan Insurance and Hodwitz Nursery. MaryEllen will be remembered for her sense of humour, her kindness and acceptance, her calm approach to life's dilemmas, her willingness to help others in their times of need, her love and commitment for her family and for her smile. She always had a smile for everyone, even in the most recent of times as her caregivers said she was always smiling. An avid reader and lover of music, MaryEllen was also kindhearted, fair and compassionate taking in many a stray into her home, as well as being a wonderful conversationalist and a great listener. MaryEllen is survived by husband Gary MacDonald; children: Mark Halunga (Helena Hjertquist), Jodi Halunga (Charlie Rimkus), Becky Davis and Chris Davis (Jennifer); grandchildren: Matthew, Cole, Warner and Peter Davis, and Cosmo Hjertquist; sisters: Madeline Christiansen and Kathy Fiorito and by brother Bob Fiorito (Lynda). She is also survived by lifelong friend Loretta Pyykola and special friends Johanna Ramsin and Roslyn Bergman. She is preceded in death by father Domenic Fiorito, mother Edith Greer, stepfather Bill Greer, brother Jim Fiorito and sister Aileen Urda. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for September 17th, 2015 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Kakabeka Legion Branch #225. Please come and share your memories of MaryEllen with all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Alzheimer's Society of Thunder Bay.

I'll never forget the many video game competitions we had after work at the pizza joint...our favourite, Ladybug. Will fondly remember those wicked shifts 'til 3:00 am, the jokes and good times shared, and her infectious laugh.
