Mauno Lehtomaa Obituary

Mr. Mauno Lehtomaa, age 83 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2015. He was born Oct. 14, 1932 in Paavola, Finland into a family of 14 children. He learned to work hard on the family farm.

Mauno's Uncle Vaino invited him to come to Canada in the late 1950's. He became a miner and was seriously injured in an explosion. He re-trained himself and returned to work life. His strong spirit was not stopped by his disability. Mauno was known as passionate hunter and fisherman. He had a faith in Christ and was a generous member of Hilldale Lutheran Church.

Mauno will be dearly missed by his seven siblings in Finland and Sweden.

The funeral will take place on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in Hilldale Lutheran Church as a part of the Finnish Communion Service at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.

If friends so desire, donations made in memory of Mauno to Hilldale Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated. A heartfelt thank you to all who so lovingly took care of Mauno, as well as his friends, especially Tarmo Pihlaja.

EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, in care of arrangements.
