Maurice Bruins Obituary

BRUINS
It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Maurice Kenneth Bruins, who was born on May 24, 1958, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and whose life was taken from us far too soon on October 30, 2025.

Maurice was a devoted husband, loving brother, and cherished uncle whose kindness, integrity, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a hard worker who spent his entire career in the gas industry, beginning with Centra Gas and later with Union Gas, where he was respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic.

A kind and giving individual, Maurice was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures spending time with his beloved wife Jennifer, caring for his home and camp, and following his passion for Formula 1 racing. A jack of all trades, Maurice took great pride in helping others, always ready to lend his time, knowledge, and steady hands to family, friends, and neighbours alike.

Maurice is predeceased by his father, Bill Bruins, and his mother, Claire Bruins. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Jennifer Bruins; his brothers Lionel Bruins (Karen) and Albert Bruins; and his sister Cheryl Gorrie (Alec Muller). He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Don and Marilyn Orr, and his sister-in-law, Lindsay Kislock. Maurice will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, who will forever hold dear the memories of his generosity, humour, and gentle spirit.

Maurice's presence brought light, laughter, and stability to those around him. Whether through his work, his friendships, or his deep devotion to family, he lived with honesty and grace. His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local charity supporting victims of violence, in Maurice's memory.

May his soul rest in peace and may those who mourn him find comfort in the love and legacy he leaves behind.
