Maurice Sorochuk Obituary

Mr. Maurice Sorochuk age 72 years, resident of Thunder Bay, left his family to be with the Lord, Monday, July 24, 2000. Born and raised in Fort William, Maurice spent his working years, as a papermaker at Great Lake Paper, working from 1945 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Papermaker's Union Local #257. Maurice was a family man and his life was centered around his wife, children and grandchildren all of whom were his pride and joy. He was a private man, but always had time for everyone who needed help. His smile and laughter endeared him to all whom he touched. Maurice enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, maintaining his lawn and garden. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife Ann to Arizona, Las Vegas and their winter months spent in the south. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross and the Holy Cross Golden Agers. He is survived by his wife Ann, children, Vicki and husband Roger Moore, John and wife Jan, Kitchener, Debbie, Sault Ste. Marie, Anna-Marie and husband Wayne Bahlieda, grandchildren Jonathan, Christopher, Melissa, Kate-Lyn Moore, Matthew, Michael, Nicholas Sorochuk, Steven, Carissa-Ann, Shandel and Amanda and Kaleigh Bahlieda, sister Rose-Marie Sorochuk, brother-in-law Peter Zimak, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and George Dashkewytch, Kelowna B.C. as well nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his parents John and Patricia Sorochuk and a sister Lily Zimak. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2000 when friends and family will gather for Divine Liturgy at 11:00 am in the Church of the Holy Cross celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Anton Szymychalski. The liturgy will be complete in the church with a reception to follow in the church hall. A private service of interment will follow later for the family in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
