MAXIMUS HARDY Obituary

MAXIMUS MARK MONTGOMERY HARDY July 26, 2017 - March 17, 2026
It is with unimaginable sadness and deep love that we announce the tragic passing of Maximus Mark Montgomery Hardy on March 17, 2026, at just 8 years old.

Maximus, lovingly given his Ojibway name Nigigoonhs (Baby Otter), carried a spirit full of joy, curiosity, and connection to the land. Like the otter, he was playful, loving, and brought light and laughter wherever he went. His smile was bright and beautiful, the kind that could light up a room instantly and make anyone feel at ease.

Max was the beloved youngest son of Marcus and Samantha Hardy, and the heart of their big, beautiful family of eight. Family meant everything to him.

He adored his sisters and would do anything for them, showing a depth of love far beyond his years. They were his best friends, his teammates, and his constant companions.

He shared a special bond with his older brother, MJ, always eager to learn from him, walk alongside him, and be included in everything he did. Max listened closely, carried teachings quietly, and absorbed the love and guidance of those around him in a meaningful way.

Max was especially close to his mom; her little shadow, always by her side, connected in a way that was unbreakable. Their bond was filled with comfort, warmth, and unconditional love.

To his dad, Max looked up with endless admiration. His father was his hero, his role model, and his best friend. Max was truly his father's son, and his dad was his greatest light.

He felt most at home on the land. Max loved fishing, hunting, and going for side-by-side rides, embracing the outdoors in a way that reflected a deep and natural connection to his roots. His adventurous spirit and free heart were gifts to everyone who knew him.

He also found joy in life's simple comforts: salt and vinegar chips, chocolate milk, and Cheerios. A proud hockey player, Max wore number #6 with heart, pride, and determination.

Maximus brought warmth, laughter, and love into every space he entered. His life, though far too short, was filled with meaning, connection, and spirit. He reminded all who knew him of the importance of family, love, and living close to the land.

Max was deeply loved by his grandparents, Mark & Joan Hardy and Tracey Giles (Cliff) & Jamie Prystay, his aunties, uncles, cousins, and extended family. His presence brought people together, and his loss is felt not only within his family but across the entire community.

As he begins his journey to the Spirit World, we hold him close in our hearts, knowing his light will continue to guide and watch over those he loves. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

This obituary is shared with heavy and broken hearts on behalf of Marcus, Samantha, Kamlyn, MJ, Charly, Jakob, London, Georgia, and Sophia.

Service details: A service to honour Max's life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, beginning at 11:00am at the Nipigon Legion.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
