Merle Trost Obituary

It is with deep sorrow we announce that Merle J. Trost (nee Cannon) passed away peacefully on February 26, 2022 at the age of 93 years She is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years, Don Trost, her sons Terry Trost and Glenn (Joanne) Trost, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and a brother Hartley residing in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Sadly, Merle is predeceased by her daughter Marilee Bond, brother Sherwood Cannon, sister Anita Marko, sister Miriam Cannon and great granddaughter Kaleigh Bond. She was born in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario in 1928. Merle and Don raised their family there and moved to Langley, BC in their retirement years. Fun loving and mischievous, Merle could light up the room at any social gathering and on her serious side will always be remembered for her caring and supportive nature. She loved the outdoors especially over the years spent at the Trout Lake cottage in Thunder Bay which became a destination for visiting family members for years. Wherever she and Don lived she had beautiful plants, trees and hanging flowerpots surrounding them. When they settled in Langley, BC she loved her Magnolia tree, Star Gazer Lilies and multitudes of other flowers that she always enjoyed growing. As a Jehovah's Witness all her life she had strong faith in her creator and the promise of a resurrection always gave her comfort and hope.
