MICHAEL DURANT

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Michael Donald Durant, age 55, on August 11, 2023 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born and raised in Thunder Bay and graduated from FWCI. He attended the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and following his graduation was employed by the Province of Manitoba. He was later hired by Weyerhaeuser and resided in Dryden, Ontario. He relocated to Seattle, Washington where he worked as an IT Specialist.

Michael was a "foody" and enjoyed a good steak, hot pot and smoking meats. He loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining with his neighbours. He often hosted get-togethers in his driveway inviting everyone over to enjoy a "perfectly smoked brisket" along with a viewing party to watch the latest Pay Per View match on his big screen roll-out TV.

Michael would hold movie nights for the kids and made them his favourite theatre popcorn to enjoy. His favourite holiday was Halloween so it was no surprise that he had the most decorated house on the block.

Michael is survived by his sisters Donna (Greg) Cappello of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Colleen (Dan) Rogers of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents Donald and Helen Durant.

As per Michael's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.
