KOMAR
MICHAEL JOSEPH KOMAR passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on October 5, 1954, Mike lived a life marked by determination, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. A devoted father, brother, husband, and friend, Mike was known for his stubborn streak and strong will; but those who knew him best also knew he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His loyalty ran deep, and his presence filled every room he entered. Throughout his life, Mike was a dedicated entrepreneur. From entertainment consulting starting as early as in high school to owning a golf course and later a sports bar, he poured his energy and passion into every venture. He worked hard, dreamed big, and built a life that reflected his drive and resilience. More than his accomplishments, however, it is his love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit that will remain with us always.
Mike is lovingly remembered by his wife, Laurie Komar; his daughters, Ashley (Daniel) and Chelsea Komar; his sister, Susan (Brad) Lundberg; and his brothers, Bill (Debbie) and John (Cyndee) Komar. He will also be deeply missed by his niece Erin (Garrett) Lundberg; his nephews Mitchell (Robyn), Travis (Shaya), Geordi, Stephen (Nicole), Cuyler (Janelle) Komar and Donovan Lundberg. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Anne (Simko) and Michael Komar Sr.; and his brother, Stephen Komar. The family would like to extend special recognition to Paul Facca, Kevin Skomoroh, Larry Grant (Doc), and Armando Melo for all the help and support they provided for Mike to stay at home as long as he could; to Joyce McLeod and Kayla Netemegesic for their contributions; and to all of the health care workers involved in his care.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 16th at the Italian Hall from 1-3pm as well as the Dragon's Den from 4-7pm. A private interment with close family will follow at a later date. In honour of Mike's love for the game and the friendships it brought him, a memorial golf tournament will be held this summer, with the date to be announced.
