It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected and untimely passing of Michael McLean, our much-loved son, brother, uncle, and friend, at the age of 55, on January 8th, 2023, at TBRHSC, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
Mike was the baby of the family, born Michael Angus McLean on April 15, 1967, in Thunder Bay Ontario. Mike was raised in Pass Lake on the family farm, attending McKenzie Public School and later Gron Morgan. At 16, Mike left his high school days behind to pursue his career at Robin's Donuts, where he quickly found his life's passion, and with his hard work and dedication, a life of entrepreneurship ensued. It did not take long until Mike found himself owning two Robin's Donuts locations with his brother, many of the fondest memories and pictures included Robin's coffee and donuts. In the following years, Mike made his way in the world, operating a few businesses, somewhat making a full circle, by spending his remaining years owning and operating the very restaurant he grew up in - Pass Lake Truck Stop. No matter what Mike did in life, he walked his own path, never giving up. Mike may have been the baby in the family, but he was the glue that kept everyone together.
Mike is survived by his Mother Sandra McLean, whom he adored very much, and his siblings; Brenda Langlois, Morris McLean (Cheryl), and Jerry McLean. Mike is also survived by his nieces Jennifer Cook (Jeremy & Bentley), Christine Langlois (Corey & Carter), Amanda Korte (Raija & Dylan), Leanne McLean (Jordyn, Kai & Layla), Jess McLean, and nephew Dakota, along with numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. In passing at such a young age, he has left behind many important friends, too many to list, but you all hold a special place in Mike's life and memory. A special mention to Lisa, Connor, Paula, and Caroline McLean, who that despite the distance, remained in his heart always. To Ricki for his lifelong friendship, and to Sherry for her unconditional support, you both helped Mike both personally and professionally.
Like most of us, Mike was also predeceased by many of those he loved, most notably by his father Wesley (1995), and great-nephew Caleb (2014).
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, from 10 am to 2 pm at North End Rec Centre, located at 954 Huron Ave. In lieu of flowers, we ask that in Mike's honor, you provide a meal for the less fortunate, help someone who is trying to forge their own path, or do something you have always wanted to do.
We would like to thank the ICU staff and Dr. Kovacs at TBRHSC for the compassion and care you provided, during the final days, you are all nothing short of exceptional.
The world was a very different place, the day we woke up without you. You lived on the edge, making your mark on the world by defying all odds (and critics), always proving to us what it meant to truly live. The stories, memories, and life lessons are endless, they simply cannot be summed up in one column. No matter where we all ended up, you made sure that we all landed back close together. Losing you has left us incomplete; we love you more than you will ever know.

My Deepest condolences to Michael's family.
I was shocked to see the post of his passing on the restaurant door :(
My love to Sandra in this tragic time.
As a trucker from BC, the restaurant was my must stop location. Your family treated us like family and the food was amazing. Micheal will be missed by so many of us.
Stopped in there again today and my heart broke once again.
I hope to see you all again one day. Not sure what your plans are for the restaurant but hope it will open again.
Just know you all mean alot to all us trucker's out here. Your family came together and helped Micheal keep things going all these past months and even on the hard days of no staff you still made it feel like home.
Sending all my love and prayers to you all.
Biggest hug to you Sandra and thank you for raising such an great man as you son.
May he rest in peace

Sandra, Jerry, and family.
We are so very sorry to hear about Mike.
We always had several laughs together over all these years. I would always tease him by asking him where his skirt was when he would have to be the waitress once in a while at the restaurant. We first met Mike when I worked for him at Robin's back in the late '80's. There was always a joke to be had.
Our heartfelt condolences to you all.
