MICHAEL SHANE Obituary
In loving memory of Michael Shane, affectionately known as Mickey, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the age of 71 at his home in Thunder Bay. Mickey was born July 18, 1953 at Winchester Hospital, and lived in Chesterville, Ontario with his family until they moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1974.
His adult career was spent in the construction and pipeline industry in the provinces of Ontario and Alberta. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing Lake Superior and he was known for his elaborate vegetable garden.
Mickey is survived by his loving partner, Liliane Shane (nee Saindon), his Mother, Maria Shane (nee Guyan), his Sister, Lori (Ron) Augustin of Sault Ste. Marie. Predeceased by his Father, Leonard and his Brothers Ronald and Dale Shane. Loving and proud Father to Michaele (Andre) and Dale (Tazmin) of Hamilton, New Zealand; Step-Father to Nadia (Jamie) of Thunder Bay and Patrick (Ericka) of Fort McMurray. Grandfather to Taniko, Mikaere, Cooper, Maizie, Ron and Analiese. Uncle to Katlyn Foisy and Krysten Halcrow.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place in early 2025 with interment at Mountainview Cemetery this Summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
