MICHAEL SHPERUK Obituary

It is with broken hearts the family of Michael Tommy Shperuk announces his passing on August 28, 2024, with family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sylvia; his son Christopher (Andrea); daughter-in-law Megan, along with his best playmate and grandson, Thomas; and older brother Jerry and his furry little faithful friend Q-Tip. He was predeceased by his firstborn son, James, and older brother, Carl.

Michael was born to Peter and Pearl Shperuk on February 1, 1944, in Fort Frances, Ontario. He moved to Thunder Bay to further his education and there met Sylvia; they were married August 14, 1971. He was a true gentleman, always kind with a gentle soul. He loved his doggies, and was heartbroken when each of his little friends passed on.

He was happiest at home with his family. Every Christmas, he eagerly decorated each room of the house because he loved to see the joy it brought his family. Michael loved working on cars and other projects with his sons. It was very important to him that his sons grew up to be confident and have the same solid work ethic he had. Michael never hesitated in encouraging them to tackle any project that interested them, and he taught them all the practical skills he learned from his own father.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff, nurses, and doctors in 1A at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The care and compassion everyone showed toward Michael meant a great deal.

Michael has been cremated. Because he was a very private man who did not like a big fuss, no service is planned. The family requests those wishing to honor Michael's memory make donations either to the TBRHSC or to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
