MICHELLE BOUCHARD Obituary

The family of the late Michelle Josephine Nowegijick Bouchard is heartbroken to announce her unexpected passing on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Michelle was born in Thunder Bay, to her parents Stella Nowegijick and Michael Bouchard. In her earlier years, Michelle was raised in Gull Bay First Nation before the family eventually moved to Thunder Bay.

During her adolescence, Michelle enjoyed keeping active. She enjoyed boxing, hiking, and was a fancy shawl dancer. Michelle loved to participate in traditional ceremonies and powwow gatherings. Michelle loved to travel, and in her childhood, Mish loved to go to Disney World, Canada's Wonderland and stateside to Valley fair, Las Vegas and Wisconsin.

Mish was one of the many youth that attended the Feathers of Hope youth conference in Ottawa and traveled to Oklahoma to participate in traditional ceremonies.

Michelle graduated from high school and went on to pursue a career in the trades. She was a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed being on the job site. In her free time she loved to relax with her two dogs Remma Jay & Kylo and her nephew Vader. She enjoyed going to the bush and would often go on rides with her brothers for target practice and to hunt partridge. Michelle loved the outdoors, often taking lots of hikes in the bush. She loved being by the lake, where she would fish and camp.

Michelle was adored by many and had a huge social group. She was always there for her friends and family when they needed her. Michelle was godmother to many nieces and an auntie to many family members. If you needed something done, or needed a ride or die partner, she was there no questions asked.

Those left to mourn her passing are brothers Kevin and Michael, sister Brittany, nieces Kiarra, Brianna, Kiaya, Norma Jean, Maddy, nephews Kevin Jr, Titan, Baby MJ, Roger, Shaldon, Leslie and Greyson and her two dogs Remma Jay & Kylo, and Russman.

Michelle is welcomed into the spirit world by her mother Stella, grandmothers Agnes, Margaret & Josephine, Papa Bob, aunts Gladys, Helen, uncles Roger Sr and Podon cousins Karen, Georgina, Dobby, Vinny and her good friend Josh.

A celebration of remembrance to honour Michelle will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 12:00pm officiated by Elder Ernie Kwandibens, Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma. A funeral procession to Gull Bay First Nation and back, will take place following the service.
