Michelle Mercer Obituary

Michelle Lynne Mercer passed away peacefully with family at her side on Thursday, January 21st after a long battle with cancer.

Michelle was born on June 28th, 1973 to Ed and Diane Mercer. She attended Gron Morgan High School where she made many life-long friends and met Todd Doran who would become her life/love partner and with whom she would have a lovely daughter named Desirae Autumn Doran.

Michelle worked at The Real Canadian Superstore for a while and also babysat for a number of people. The children she looked after are among those who miss and mourn her passing.

Family meant everything to Michelle and we will all feel lost without her. Michelle was always ready to help where she could, or at least put in her two cents worth. Camping, fishing, sitting by a campfire, doing arts and crafts, writing poetry, going to concerts, and scrap-booking were among Michelle's favorite activities.

Wolf Lake and Silver Lake were Michelle's favorite places to go camping. She made many friends while doing so. And the more the merrier.

Michelle joins her mother Diane Mercer, who passed away only 11 months ago, and her grandparents in heaven.

She will be missed by loving family members such as her daughter Desirae Autumn Doran (who has lost both a loving mother and a good friend in Michelle), her life-partner Todd Doran, her brother Robert Mercer and his wife Bobbi, her nieces MacKenzie + Katrina Mercer, her father Ed Mercer, her mother and father in-law Eddie + Trudy Doran, her brothers in-law Eddie and Jamie Doran, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Michelle's life get-together will be held at the hall at Knox United Church, 1 Shuniah Street, on January 30th between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Anyone who knew Michelle is welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated.

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

Heaven is a better place now that Michelle is there;
surrounded by her mom and family all gathered round her there.
She's gained her wings and smiling down with a golden halo in her hair.
And we join all those beloved family and friends here that miss her so much saddened by this tragic loss.

My sweet niece is with an Angel and our memories of her will stay forever.A feather may fall and it could be whisper in the wind telling us I love. A song on the radio may play or a butterfly fluttering in summer will give us that reminder.I know these signs will be there.Forever all my love Hugs and Kisses. Auntie Rosie.
