Mike Caruso Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and father, Mike Gaetano Caruso, age 53 on Monday, August 13, 2018, in the care of St Joseph's Hospice. Mike passed away peacefully in the presence of both family and friends, it marked the end of his very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mikes great passion was fishing and to kick back on a Sunday afternoon and watch his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings, a long loyal fan. He was also a big fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, again a long loyal fan, in which he traveled to see his team play. Mike was a member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur where he also greatly enjoyed the company of his many friends over a cold one. Mike is survived and forever remembered by his loving parents Lina and Eugenio Caruso, his daughter Kaitlyn Caruso, his partner Carol Younger (Dain, Connor, Jessica), sisters, Carmen Caruso and Gina (Mike) Gutmann, along with their children Samuel and Ella Gutmann, brother Anthony (Rachelle) Caruso. He is also survived by life-long friend Benny Arella, Aunt Vanda (Domenico, Dora, Adriano, Luca), cousin Francesco (Lina, Paul, Tony, Ross) Coccimiglio. Along with many special aunts, uncles, cousins, here and abroad. He was predeceased by his sister Carmella and grandparents Antonella and Genarino Gallo, Carmella and Gaetano Caruso, uncles, Salvatore and Gino Caruso, Eugenio Gallo and aunt Antonietta Coccimiglio, all from Italy. Many thanks to the medical staff at both Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and St Joseph's Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street at 10:30 am for the Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church beginning at 11:00 am. A private interment will be held at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening (TONIGHT) in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with Vigil Prayers beginning at 7:00 pm. As expressions of sympathy, memorials to the Kaitlyn Caruso trust fund c/o any TD Trust Bank would be appreciated.

Mi dispiace molto di non potere più praticare la nostra passione insieme, la pesca. Avrei voluto passare più tempo con te. Dovunque tu sei resterai sempre nel mio cuore. Miss you Gaetano

Mike was part of almost every memory I had growing up in St. Andrews and st. Ignatius, I remember being with him when he found out what happened to all the rabbits that were around the house. He was always having fun and laughing and an honour to have grown up around him. Our championship basketball team, we made him Captain, because of his hard work, talent and a consummate team player. Captain Caruso helped inspire us. Mike was one of the best people I had the pleasure to meet in my life. I am very sadden with his loss and know he would have been courageous in his fight. My condolences to his entire family and friends, this is a huge loss for all of us.

sincerely, Mike and Carolyn Dolcetti, Moncton, NB

I miss the days coming in to work for the night when Mikey C (as I called him) was finishing up his day shift. We would always have a quick chat about hockey and then he went home. He is and will be very missed, rest in peace.
