It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Milja Maric, our dear mother and Baba on December 11th, 2025, at TBRHSC at the age of 86 with her loving family at her side. Milja was born on March 3rd, 1939, in Yugoslavia. She married Zivko Maric and they had two children, Barb and Rade. After 25 years of marriage, Zivko passed away unexpectedly in 1985. It was a difficult time for her, so she immigrated to Canada in 1988, to join her daughter Barb, son in law and granddaughter. Her son Rade moved to Canada in 1989, where they lived together. To many people, Milja was affectionately known as Baba. She had a heart of gold. She made everyone feel loved and was never short on hugs and kisses and always had a big smile. She was an excellent storyteller and had a great sense of humour. She loved to cook and knit, making dozens of pairs of slippers for family and friends over the years. She loved her garden most of all. Every year, her green thumb produced an abundance of vegetables and flowers. She was so happy to share her veggies with anyone who stopped by. She loved her family; they always came first. Even when her health was declining, she never once complained. She focused on family, especially her 2 great grandchildren who were the world to her. Milja is lovingly remembered by her son Rade, her daughter Barb (David) Morriss, granddaughters Lori (David) Yawney and Jessica Morriss, great grandchildren Olivia and Owen Yawney, sister Zorka, niece Mira Jankovic (Bozo), nephew Steven (Kaitie) Jankovic and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family back home. She was predeceased by her husband Zivko, sister Ranka, brother Micho and nephew Doug Jankovic. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Nigro and Dr. Sinnemaki for all their compassionate care over the years. We would also like to thank the SNEMS Community Paramedicine Program, especially NP Rajesh, Heather and team and VON for their care in the recent weeks. Also, all the nurses and doctors at TBRHSC helped our mom. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Konstantinos Tsiolas presiding. Private burial with family take place at a later time. If friends and family so desire, donations to the Our Hearts at Home campaign in Milja's memory would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at
